Top Three Teams in The Nation's Cup

February 28, 2009: With the help of Shane Sweetnam on Spy Coast Farm's Amaretto D'Arco, Ireland took second at Nations' Cup in Wellington, Florida.  Ireland tied with Britain finishing with just one fault separating them from the Canadian winners.

Shane and Amaretto D'Arco, with a great performance, produced a clear round first time out and collected only four faults in the Cup's second round.

Ireland's Irish Team Manager Robert Splaine said afterwards: 'We did not go into this competition as favorites, and indeed I was here mainly to assess the performance of our US-based riders for later in the year, but the team produced a truly excellent result against some top opposition. At the end we tied with the British team and even the US team trailed us by four penalty points."

Ireland and Britain both finished with a total of 16 faults, with a strongly favored Canadian team lifting the Nations' Cup trophy with 15 faults.  The USA ended up in fourth place with 20 faults.
