Margie Engle and Royce were well-known for their winning ways on the international show jumping circuit with Royce's powerful scope, careful technique, and huge heart. Margie bought him as a 7yr old after seeing his raw talent in the Grand Prix ring with Liubov Kochetov. Today, Royce is an internationally proven competitor with an extensive and successful show record. He is remarkably consistent with countless top placings at venues such as WEF, Lexington, Spruce Meadows, La Baule, and St. Gallen. In 2018 Royce was USEF Grand Prix Horse of the Year. This incredible achievement further demonstrates his consistency in the ring due to the fact that in 2018 he was on a selective show schedule and still had the highest prize monies won at the end of the year to be awarded this designation.

 

Royce's sire, 1.45m Cafe au Lait (Contender), was winner of his 30 day stallion test with the Springpferdezuchtverband Oldenburg-International (OS) with a score of 8.10. Cafe au Lait's full brother, Cody, was Bundeschampion 6yr old jumper in 2002. Cafe Au Lait's offspring are known for their power, movement, and positive work attitude, all of which Royce exemplifies. Royce's dam, Petula (Grandilot), also produced 1.45m Action-Grandi PS, 1.60m Adilot, and 1.60m Sandilot PS. She is also the granddam to 1.45m Cindra 3, 1.50m Elcendila PS, 1.50m Chactula PS, and 1.55m Baloys PS. 

 

Royce always displays an excellent and kind temperament and his impressive presence and success in the ring made him a favorite to watch. He is best paired with mares that are even or uphill in conformation and not too long in the back. He lends a lot of scope, power, and a lovely shoulder/neck connection.

 

Royce's offspring are young, but are well received at their foal inspections and jump chute competitions. We look forward to them entering the show ring in the coming years!
